NETWORKING
Primary to the mission of Partnerships for Parks is our
effort to link parks groups all over the city so that they
can learn from one another, work together as coalitions,
and gain inspiration and support from each other's efforts.
Here you can read success stories of other parks
groups around the city, or join the coalition of
parks advocates in your borough.
Success Stories
Success stories inspire groups and allow sharing what has
worked for your parks group. Our definition of success is
broad--you don't have to have thousands of people coming
to your events or a million-dollar renovation project underway
to be a "success". A great story describes a significant
change that's taken place in your park as a result of the
work your group has done. To submit your own group's success
story, go to the Contact Us link on the left and call the
Technical Assistance Manager. Read other groups stories
here.
Borough Coalitions
To link neighborhood groups further, we support five borough
coalitions that organize events and promote
park advocacy in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens,
and Staten Island. Each coalition represents
hundreds of individuals and a number of smaller parks groups,
civic organizations, corporations, and
nonprofits. At monthly meetings and special events, coalition
leaders work to develop strategies that meet
local needs. Special events like the Bronx Parks Speak Up
unify parks supporters within a borough and help
to build a citywide network of public space advocates.
